Hello! I'm Thomas, second-year HSPSer who is your Faith and Belief's Officer. I'll be following on in this new role from Khadeja last year, continuing provision for halal food in hall and the faith-based dietary requirements Fridge-Freezers: I'll be organising faith-based formals, interfaith events alongside the interfaith working-group, and exploring charity initiatives, encouraging links between Selwyn faith societies, and fighting for a multi-faith prayer space and reviewing the use of the Chapel.

Hello! I'm Jennifer, a first year law student and your current Gender Equality Officer. I'm looking forward to ensuring college is a safe, welcoming place for students of all gender identities by promoting gender equality in everyday life, such as through managing and building on past JCR schemes like the Menstrual Hygiene Fund. I'm also excited to hopefully involve Selwyn in the wider environment of feminist justice, from promoting activism and the SU Women's Campaign. Finally, I hope to work with the Ents officers, Gender Equality officers from other colleges, as well as the BME and LGBTQ+ officers to organise more informal themed talks, socials, swaps etc. Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you have any concerns, questions or ideas!

Hi! I’m Sahar, a second year HSPSer, and your JCR Green Officer this year. I am excited to continue all the amazing work done so far to make sure that Selwyn is at the forefront of sustainable practices, and that, we as a community, are doing our bit to care for the planet. I want to ensure that that we extend sustainability at Selwyn beyond the bare minimum - whether that be to adopt an actively responsible College investment policy, to promote ecologically friendly alternatives (i.e. eco pads, and solar panels), to organise for surplus food in Hall to be distributed to the Cambridge City Food bank, and to launch the Crisp Packet Project. I will also look to improve the selection of plant-based options from Hall, and to continue Vegan Formal Halls! Selwyn’s Green Week 2023 is coming up in Lent - so if you have any queries, ideas or suggestions, please do get in contact!

Hi! I'm Yinbang(he/him), a first-year economist from China, and your international officer this year! I'm glad to be part of the JCR community. As an international student, I recognize the difficulties of living and studying in another country caused by language and cultural barriers. Life in Cambridge is an incredible and challenging new journey. I aim to make international students adapt to the new environment as smoothly as possible, represent them to voice their concerns, and improve their lives at Selwyn overall.

Hello! I’m Elina (she/her) and I am a second year Theologian. I am very excited to be your JCR president this year, and to be part of such a wonderful committee! My main responsibilities include chairing the JCR committee and facilitating communication between the College and the undergraduates. I also work closely with Selwyn’s MCR and other college’s JCRs to ensure Selwyn’s JCR is connected to wider university communities. This year, I hope to introduce a college-wide voting system, so Selwyn students can voice their opinions on various topical issues. I also want to focus on further improving student welfare, and make sure that students have access to varied support networks during their time at Selwyn. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns, queries, or suggestions! I host a weekly listening hour in the bar (Mondays, 5-6pm), and I am always available via email.

Ben (he/him)
I'm Ben (he/him), a second year Economics student at Selwyn and I'm your treasurer for this year! I'm responsible for managing the JCR's finances and making sure the various funds and schemes the JCR offers continue to run. My main aim is to make sure students can make the most out of their time at Cambridge, by supporting JCR officers in achieving their aims and removing as many financial barriers as possible. If you have any questions, or believe we can help you with an expense, then don't hesitate to get in touch. I will handle all queries quickly and confidentially.
Vice President
George (he/him)
Hi, I’m George (he/him), a second-year Lawyer, and your JCR Vice President this year! As Vice-President, I’m involved in Selwyn JCR’s external activities by representing you at Student Union meetings and by liaising with other JCRs. I want to develop our external profile by regularly updating Selwyn students on the SU and increasing our inter-collegiate involvement. I also provide support to the President and the whole of the JCR Committee to ensure that everyone can carry out their role as effectively as possible, including by organising Sunday Tea! I particularly want to focus on the welfare of Selwyn students by maintaining a strong emphasis on student well-being and increasing the promotion of available support.
Welfare Officer
Stefan (he/him)
Hi, I’m Stefan, and I’m your Male and Non-Binary Welfare Officer this year. I’m a first year history and politics student; I enjoy playing the piano in my free time and love music generally. I’m committed to making your time at Selwyn more enjoyable and as stress free as possible! Over the course of my term, I hope to act upon my manifesto pledges: trying to make Selwyn more affordable, organising community activities to relieve stress through term, working to put in place more structures of support to ensure everyone can thrive in college and feel comfortable in the environment here. I will be in the bar for a chat in my welfare hours, but if you need me outside that time, be it for a chat in the bar, or a walk about the meadows, feel free to get in touch with me! I am here for you!
Welfare Officer
Oketa (she/her)
Hi everyone, I'm Oketa! I have been a ballet dancer my whole life so I am no stranger to mental illnesses that can arise or be worsened by toxic environments, people and competition. What's more, coming from a working-class background, I understand the pressures that financial instability can create. To suggest that these are the only factors is reductive of course, however I cannot list them all. What I can do is say that I am keen to better the well-being of all at Selwyn. Please email me with any questions or suggestions :)
