FORMALS
A formal is a nicer dinner offered on Tuesday and Thursday nights in college. Currently (12/02/2023), the tickets are £15 for student tickets and £18 for guest tickets. Each Selwyn member can book two guests on the online booking system without any additional process, if you want more than two guests, you can contact conferences@sel.cam.ac.uk (source here), and they are likely to allow you to. It's a three-course meal, served with chocolate and coffee afterwards and a great way to celebrate something, or just do something a bit special. You can buy wine for the meal in the bar with either your cam card or a traditional bank card.
If you have dietary requirements, they are very accommodating so get in contact with catering if you have any questions (catering@sel.cam.ac.uk).

Behaviour
The college expects formal standards of dress from those attending (jacket & tie, or equivalent). They have been known to refuse people not wearing ties, so ensure you are wearing one if you are wearing a suit.
On special occasions such as birthdays, you can seek permission to allow a toast congratulating the birthday person.
You should be seated in the hall by 7.25pm.
Accessibility statement:
Formals take place in hall. It is accessible via the main steps which have a hand rail, and there is step free wheelchair access. The seating is not padded, there is a wheelchair accessible toilet. The nearest toilets are not gender neutral, but there are gender neutral toilets nearby in the bar. Free menstrual products are provided in all toilets. There isn't a hearing loop.
