Ashley (she/her)
Hi everyone! I’m Ashley (she/her), a second year medic here at Selwyn!
As your accommodation and services officer it’s my responsibility to run the room ballot, ensure that everyone feels comfortable in accommodation and help run/improve services; such as hall, the bar, laundry and the JCR common room.
I also represent the JCR on the accommodation, stewards and operations committees - so if you have anything you’d want me to raise at these meetings then let me know 🙂
Please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you have any issues or questions!

I will be responsible for ensuring that students from ethnic minority backgrounds feel included, involved and supported at a College and University level. One of my main aims for this year is creating a BME group chat where Selwyn students can voice any questions or concerns. I also hope to work with the Ents officers, and BME officers from other colleges to organise themed social events and swaps. If anyone has any questions, concerns or suggestions about other ways to ensure BME students are represented at Selwyn, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Hi! We’re Ben and Lily, your new Freshers’ Reps. We’re in our first year of studying Economics and HML, and can’t wait to welcome next year’s freshers to Selwyn!
Gender Equality Officer
Alice (she/her)
Hi! I’m Alice (she/her) a first year MML student and the current Gender Equality Officer. I’m looking forward to promoting equality of all genders in college and making the college a safe and welcoming environment for every student. I plan on building on awareness of the JCR’s Menstrual Hygiene Fund to ensure it is accessible to everyone. I also want to further involve Selwyn students in issues of gender equality across college and the university, principally encouraging students to participate in events and promoting the SU Women’s Campaign. My central aim is to ensure students of all genders feel comfortable engaging with these issues at college level and are supported by the college and entire student community.
Green Officer
Ollie (he/him)
Hi, I’m Ollie (he/him), a second-year Geography student! As your JCR Green Officer, my primary aim for Selwyn is to make it as sustainable as possible, as well as for it to be a model for other colleges across the university. Reducing the cost of the meat-free meals in hall, utilising and expanding the Selwyn Green Collective and pushing for food waste bins in every gyp without the need for requesting them are some priorities for the year ahead and I’m very confident we can achieve them. Most of all though, I welcome the opportunity to work with the JCR and wider college community to ensure initiatives and policies to mitigate climate change are reached collectively and intersectionally. Please feel free to email or message me any time if you have any questions or ideas!
International Officer
Jonathan (he/him)
Hi, I’m Jonathan, a first year geographer. I’m excited to be this year’s international officer. I represent international students at a college level and aim to build inter-collegiate links in the international student community. My focus is on international student’s experiences at Selwyn both during and out of term. I hope to smoothen the process of arrival and departure from college at every term as well as for new freshers and leaving graduates. I will achieve this through management of programs such as out of term storage and kickstarting initiatives like graduate bike sales. Feel free to contact me with any comments.
LGBT+ Officer
Rach (she/her)
Hi everyone, my name is Rach (she/her), I’m a second year NatSci, and excited to be your LGBTQ+ officer this year! This year, I aim to introduce an anonymous messaging system that will be particularly accessible to closeted students who still need to access LGBTQ+ specific welfare resources. I will also work with the gender equality officer to raise awareness of the gender expression fund, and remain contactable via WhatsApp/Messenger outside my welfare hours if anyone needs someone to talk to! If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to say hi, my email is rci23@cam.ac.uk
LGBTQ+ Officer
Negar (she/her)
Hi! I’m Negar (she/her), a second-year engineer and your LGBTQ+ Officer this year. I’m here to support the LGBTQ+ community here at Selwyn and hopefully organise some fun events for us all (LGBTQ+ formal, queer movie nights etc.) As part of my role this year I thought it was important to compile a document with information on all forms of support you can access as a member of the community and the various JCR funds that are available to you. You can access this on the JCR website. Otherwise don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need anything!
President
Bella (she/her)
Hi! I’m Bella (she/her), a second year history & politics student and I’m very happy to be your JCR president this year. Some of my main responsibilities include representing Selwyn undergrads to the College and connecting the JCR to Selwyn’s MCR and other college’s JCRs. I chair the JCR committee and work closely with all officers to ensure the JCR caters to and advocates for the needs of all students. A main focus of mine will be to work to improve access for current students at Selwyn and challenge financial and social barriers. A further focus of mine will be ensuring that the welfare of students is prioritised in the year to come. I’m looking forward to building on the work of previous committees and seeing what we can achieve! As ever please don’t hesitate to get in contact with any concerns or suggestions– I’ll be hosting a weekly surgery in the bar but I’m always contactable by email and can usually be found procrastinating on Sidg somewhere!!
Treasurer
Matty (he/him)
Hi, I’m Matty, a second-year Economics student and I’m your treasurer this year! I’m responsible for managing the JCR’s finances and our several funds and reimbursement schemes. I want to help Selwyn students get the most out of their time in Cambridge by mitigating and removing as many financial barriers as we can. If you’re seeking a specific JCR reimbursement, or believe we can help you with an expense, don’t hesitate to get in contact! I will handle your enquiry quickly and confidentially.
Vice President
Melina (she/her)
Hi! I’m Melina (she/her), a second-year HSPS student and your JCR Vice-President for this year. I act as Selwyn JCR’s external link through representing the student body at the Student Union - this includes various things such as voting on and presenting motions. I am really keen to increase our interaction with the Student Union and ensure that Selwyn students are better represented. I also work closely with the President and JCR Committee to ensure they are able to carry out their duties smoothly so that they can best support Selwyn undergrads. One of my other main goals this year is to help improve access at Selwyn. If you have any questions/issues/ideas, please do reach out!
Welfare Officer
Ellen (she/her)

I’ll have a weekly drop-in welfare hour, but I am happy to be contacted outside of this and to make arrangements that suit you. As well as providing welfare support and information, I intend to organise a variety of welfare events throughout the year. If you have any suggestions, questions, concerns, or just fancy a chat, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Welfare Officer
Ted (he/him)
Hey everyone! I’m Ted (he/him), a second-year Natural Scientist, and I’m one of your Welfare Officers this year alongside Ellen! I’m here to help ensure that students have access to free sexual health supplies, to organise welfare events, and to coordinate with the committee on how best to support students. As a member of the Welfare Team, I’m available for all students to confidentially discuss any welfare concerns that they might have. My weekly welfare hour is held from 17:00-18:00 on Mondays in the bar, but feel free to drop me an email if you’d like to discuss things at another time or somewhere more private!
