JCR Committee

Below are details of the current committee

President - Ben Gliniecki

This term is an important one for students across the country. I will formally bring discussion about tuition fees and cuts to university funding to College Council as well as making sure the JCR continues to support the student protests against these government proposals. I will also improve communication between College and the student body, thus hopefully promoting a more transparent system of decision-making.

Gender Equality - Clare Rivers Mohan
jcrequality@sel.cam.ac.uk
Hi! I’m the Selwyn Gender Equalities Officer on the JCR. In my time in this position, I want to bring the CUSU Women’s Campaign to Selwyn – I want to let you all know what we’re doing for you in the University community, to make this institution a fair and representative place for all. I’m also going to work with all the various Welfare officers to bring a range of exciting and helpful events to college, from Self Defence classes to drop-in Welfare lunches so you can get to know the people who are here to help you. I’ll make sure that college’s policies on harassment, gender-related bullying and discrimination are up-to-date and in line with the best colleges in the University, and I want to work with people at Selwyn to make sure that this is a comfortable, safe environment for everyone, regardless of gender.

Most importantly, though, I want to be a port of call for anyone to come and talk to if they have any concerns about College or University life whatsoever. It might not necessarily be related to Gender Equalities, or you might want to talk to me because you feel you’ve been discriminated against. I will always be available to listen, to offer help if needed, and to look out for you if you need it.
