Elections

Nominations to join the new committee are now open! The roles which we are electing are as follows:

  • Vice-President

  • Treasurer

  • Communications Officer

  • Access Officers (x2)

  • Accommodation & Services Officer

  • BME Officer

  • Clubs & Societies Officer

  • Computing Officer

  • Development & Education Officer

  • Disabled Students' Officer

  • Ents Officers (x2)

  • Faiths and Beliefs Officer

  • Freshers' Reps (x2)

  • Gender Equality Officer

  • Green Officer

  • International Officer

  • LGBTQ+ Officer

  • Welfare Officers (x2)*

*Please note that in the past, 'Welfare Officer' has been split into 'Female Welfare' and 'Male Welfare'. The 2019 JCR Committee voted to change this to be two 'Welfare Officers'. However, to ensure that students have access to a diverse range of welfare officers, for the purposes of elections please nominate yourself under the category of either 'Female and non-binary' or 'Male and non-binary'. After election, both will be referred to simply as 'Welfare Officer'. If you've got any questions or concerns about which category to run in, please feel free to contact me.

For roles (other than welfare) where there are two places to fill, two candidates can run together on a single manifesto. For other roles, it is not possible for more than one person to fill the role.

To nominate yourself for a role, you just need to do the following:

  1. Put together a manifesto of no more than one side of A4.

  2. Get your manifesto proposed and seconded - this means that two Selwyn undergraduates need to sign it (note: current JCR Committee members can't propose or second you).

  3. Put a physical copy of the manifesto in my pidge and email Bella a PDF of your manifesto by 6pm next Thursday (17/11/22).

The next hustings will take place in the Chadwick room at 4pm on Sunday 20th November. More details to follow on that.

All of the current members of the committee are more than happy to answer any questions about their role so please do reach out to them if you have any questions. I’m also more than happy to chat about the new faiths officer role. You can also find a description of each role here: https://selwynjcr.org/committee/standing-orders
