College Sports

Hermes Club

The Hermes Club, founded in 1920, exists to encourage and improve the standard of Selwyn sport. The Club seeks to achieve its goals both through raising the profile of sport in college and through financial aid to sportsmen, women and teams. Alumni of the club fund two major sports grant schemes which award thousands of pounds in grants every year: the Hermes Fund and the Sports Bursary Scheme. Only the most able and committed sportsmen in college are eligible for invitation to the club. Membership of the club brings many social opportunities but also a lifetime financial commitment to the furthering of sport in Selwyn.

For additional information, please contact Andrew Robertson (hermes-president@sel.cam.ac.uk), president 2011-12.

Sirens' Club

The Sirens’ Club has existed for over 30 years as a society for Selwyn sportswomen who have shown sustained commitment to sport at college or University level. We aim to represent and support sportswomen within college, encourage participation in sport at all levels and to help raise funds for clubs and individuals, in order to promote further sporting activity in Selwyn. The Sirens’ Club works closely with its male counterpart, the Hermes Club; for example, the two clubs are responsible for the Sports Bursary Scheme and hosting the annual Hermes-Sirens dinner in Lent Term. Of course, there is also a social side to the Sirens’ Club that is enjoyed by all of its members, as is the recognition that membership gives them as accomplished sportswomen.

For more information please contact Leah Schabas (lrs36@cam.ac.uk), president 2011-12.
