Let's get some more DVDs in the JCR Library.....
So I've just finished pounding the 'Add to Basket' button on Amazon trying to update the JCR DVD library, but now the JCR wants your input on getting some more DVDs. Did you know you can request DVDs to be added to the JCR DVD
collection?!?! Email this guy (jcrservices@sel.cam.ac.uk) seriously, he loves it...
Anyways, I've trolled through IMDB, Amazon and the likes finding popular movies I thought the JCR really ought to own. Here's the poll:
http://www.doodle.com/3tete6855mk4rk4c#table
Follow the link, and click the ones you want to see in your JCR Library. The Top 10 will be bought this coming Friday, so expect to see them appearing over the next couple of weeks. You can vote for as many as you like, but please only vote once. In case you were hoping some of these were going to be on the poll, I have just ordered the following:
21, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, 48 Weeks Later, The A-Team, American Beauty,
Avatar, Dark Knight, Fantastic Mr Fox, Fight Club, Forrest Gump, The Four
Lions, The Hangover, Inception, Inglorious Basterds, Inside Man, Knocked Up,
Love Actually, The Notebook, Saving Private Ryan, Scream 4, Se7en, The Social

Happy voting!

NGO Talk
*Gawad Kalinga: Building Communities to End Poverty*
Cambridge Hub hosting Antonio Meloto, chairman and founder of Gawad Kalinga
Talk: 7- 8.30pm, followed by a free drinks reception and case study
presentation On: Wednesday 2nd November In: the Latimer Room, Clare College
Philippine-based NGO Gawad Kalinga aims to build 50,000 villages in the Philippines by 2024, in order to house 25-30 million inhabitants from the country's toughest slums. Their vision is to eradicate poverty in the Philippines and to tackle gang violence in the slums, building integrated, holistic and sustainable communities, accompanied by development programs for education and health. They are supported by over 1 million volunteers, including students, business leaders, previous gang leaders and politicians of all stripes. It is a striking example of how the struggle against extreme poverty can evolve into a national movement.
Founding president Antonio Meloto has won a string of awards for his successful development model, including the Ernst&Young Social Entrepreneur
of the Year 2010, and has spoken at high-key events such as the 2011 World Economic Forum. He also co-chairs a new initiative by the government of the Philippines which is facilitating the emergence of 500,000 social entrepreneurs by 2016. He will present an inspirational talk and
interactive session, and will also discuss opportunities for internships with the NGO.
Following the talk, you are invited to stay for a free drinks reception and a case-study presentation by Joan Icotanim, who is the Deputy Director of a
GK partner company based in Manila called the Human Heart Nature, who has just won the 2010 Social Entrepreneur of the Year award for the
Philippines. For more information, see www.HumanHeartNature.com.

NEW PLAY- ANDERMAN
ANDERMAN
Joseph Anderman is brilliant - a visionary - a genius. Or so people say. But what's certain is he only has a few months to live. He's not alone, of
course. He has loyal friends, devoted followers and a girlfriend who adores him. What he wants, though, is to create a work of art that will outlast
him: that will allow him to live on in the minds of others. He will cast away every kind word, every caring glance, and exploit his closest friends.
His urge to achieve is obsessive - insatiable - and with his time running out he will do anything to succeed. He's more than willing to destroy in
order to create.
Come to see this exciting piece of new writing in the Christ's Yusuf Hamied theatre at 7pm on: Tuesday 1st November Wednesday 2nd November Friday 4th November Saturday 5th November Tickets £4 Tuesday and Wednesday, £5 Friday and Saturday.
