Access

As Access Officer, I am involved in helping out with the Access visits arranged by our Schools’ Liaison Officer Laura Carter and helping to recruit volunteers to attend Access Events such as the Elland Road Leeds Oxbridge Convention and visits to Selwyn College itself.

If you are a Selwyn student, volunteering for Access events and visits is a highly rewarding activity, and helping out for an hour or two to show round a group of inquisitive, full of character and sometimes overwhelmed year 10s to year 12s is a good way to banish the monotony from your day and feel as though you may have inspired someone to work hard and actually think that they could have a chance of coming to Cambridge. To get involved, email jcraccess@sel.cam.ac.uk to get signed up the mailing list or just to ask a few questions about what is involved.
The Selwyn Access areas are Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley, Kirklees, Calderdale, Bracknell Forest, Maidenhead, Slough, Windsor and Scotland. Our Selwyn Schools’ Liaison Officer is Laura Carter, and if you have any questions for him or want to get him in touch with your old school/sixth form college to organise a trip to Selwyn, she can be contacted through the college website.

If you are a prospective student, or a student with an offer who would like to get in touch with any questions generally about Selwyn, Cambridge or university life in general, from questions to what is it like to financial or personal worries and queries, get in touch by emailing jcraccess@sel.cam.ac.uk and I will be happy to help with any concerns you may have about student life and the Cambridge system!
